Painting of the Week: Lifting, 8x8, $175

I painted this one on location during Open Air Meriwether a couple of years back. I always loved the mood of this painting and  the feeling the the light was on its way.

Revisiting this scene from our first trip to Taos a few years back. Looking forward to roaming that mountain again. Looking forward to go back out west real soon.

Painting of the Week: Parking Lot Dunes, 5x7, gouache, $150

We were supposed to go to Amelia Island for spring break with the kids, but of course that was a no go.

I settled instead to paint from some reference from our last trip down there a few years back. I saw these killer dunes in a parking lot with the ubiquitous dune keeping fence line. It was hard painting the sand, didn’t exactly nail the color, lights go darker in gouache and overall I like the pieces as a whole.

Painting of the Day, Sunset on Jekyll Island, 5x7, oil on linen, $150

I’ve been combing though my favorites folder backwards when I’m not chasing babies or teaching and found this one from a trip julie and I took maybe 10 years ago. The thunderhead n the distance was enormous, but the sun was still peaking through at the bottom.
