The Art of David Boyd, Jr.

Overgrown

Sometimes you just know when you see ascene you know it has to be painted.

That was certainly the story with this painting. I saw this house in Camp Hill, Alabama on my way to teach a workshop at the Tallapoosa School of Art (a great place top teach and an even better place to be a student!). I was already in a hurry to get down there and I saw this place... it made my heart race. Always a good sign! I turned around and grabbed my camera and stole away a couple of perfect shots! The day was partly cloudy and I had been bathed in light and in shadow on and off the entire day. The moment was perfect! I didn't have to wait for clouds to part or anything.

Sadly, when I pulled the images off my camera I noticed that the camera was on aperture priority and the picture was WAY overexposed... the only thing to do was to take a picture on my way back. Sadly, it was rainy and cloudy... but I honestly think it fits the mood of the place better than the one I saw the first time! I plan on going back and getting that sunny day shot, I guess we will see which was best!
